Drink Tasmania is seeking Hospo Legends and Tour Guides to join our passionate team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tasmanian local who loves their island home and loves sharing it with visitors.

If you think you have what it takes, ask yourself and answer the following questions:

  • Are you reliable, dedicated, enthusiastic and totally comfortable speaking in front of groups of people?
  • Are you entertaining and mature enough to create a fun and safe environment, all day long, for up to 11 people on a tour where inclusion and interaction is paramount?
  • Is Tasmania your island home? A home that you are passionate and very knowledgeable about, to the point that you would dominate Tasmanian Trivial Pursuit? (The wedges in case you have forgotten are Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature and Sports & Leisure).
  • If there was an extra wedge in Trivial Pursuit and the category was ‘Booze’ would you absolutely froth whenever your dice roll landed you on that space, knowing that your knowledge of the subject would get you the W and if it didn’t your excitement and interest in the subject would at least leave you buzzing.
  • Do you have a solid foundation of cultural awareness and can confidently and politely engage with people from all around the world?
  • Are you excited to meet new people from every corner of the globe and continue to learn more about their cultures and languages?
  • Are you an exceptional driver with a current full Australian drivers licence, PPV Ancillary Certificate, and current Working With Vulnerable People Card or willing and able to get them within the next month or two?

If you answered “YES!” to all the above questions with a smile on your face and growing excitement every time you progressed to the next question, we want to hear from you!

Your responsibilities include:

  • Serving, promoting and selling a huge range of Tasmanian alcoholic beverages.
  • Keeping Drink Tasmania Tasting House prim and proper, clean, well stocked and ready at all times for presentation.
  • Driving 4-11 Guests to visit alcohol producers throughout southern Tasmania, delivering entertaining interps along the way and building rapport with your guests. You won’t be teaching them about the production of Tasmanian booze, the places you visit will take care of that, but you’ll need to be able to keep great convo flowing, help connect guests with each other so as to create a “happy family vibe”, and of course keep the tour bus well maintained and tidy.

A competitive hourly rate is available to the right candidates and days of work negotiable, although you MUST be keen and available to work on weekends and over the summer season.

If this is all sounding like it is ‘your calling’ please send your application letter and resume to tastinghouse@drinktasmania.com.au.

If you have any questions, or you think you are too cool for writing a cover letter and updating your resume, come and visit us at the Drink Tasmania Tasting House in Richmond and present yourself to us face to face.  Just don’t call our office, the phone rings too much as it is!  You know how it goes… “Don’t call us, we’ll call you”.
